Terms and Conditions
Effective 1 September 2026
BookingsHub connects you with hotels, boarding houses, apartments, houses, vehicle owners, bus and cruise operators, airlines, tour organisers and event hosts. We pass your booking request on and confirm it with you. We never take your money — you pay the provider directly.
This page contains our Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy begins after section 22.
1. Agreement to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and BookingsHub They apply every time you visit bookingshub.lk, create an account, list a property or service, or make or receive a booking request.
By using the site you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy set out further down this page. If you do not accept them, please do not use BookingsHub.
2. Words we use
- Platform — the BookingsHub website, mobile site and any related pages or apps we operate.
- Provider — the hotel, boarding house owner, landlord, apartment owner, vehicle owner, bus operator, cruise operator, airline or agent, tour operator or event organiser who owns or controls what is listed.
- Guest — anyone who searches, requests or holds a booking. Depending on the category you may also be a tenant, renter, passenger or ticket holder.
- Listing — the description, photographs, price, availability and terms published by a Provider.
- Booking request — your enquiry sent through the Platform for specific dates, seats, vehicles or tickets.
- Booking confirmation — the notice we issue after a Provider accepts your request. It confirms the reservation. It is not a receipt and it is not proof of payment.
3. What BookingsHub does — and what it does not do
BookingsHub is a booking and communication platform. We publish listings supplied by Providers, carry your booking request to the Provider, confirm the outcome to you, and keep a record of the reservation in your account.
We are not a hotel, landlord, transport operator, travel agent, tour guide, insurer or payment service provider. We do not own, manage, inspect or control any property, vehicle, vessel, aircraft or event listed on the Platform.
Every booking creates a contract directly between you and the Provider. BookingsHub is not a party to that contract. The Provider is solely responsible for the accuracy of its listing, the availability and condition of what it offers, its licences and insurance, its prices, its cancellation policy and the service you actually receive.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts.
- The name, email address, phone number and any other details you give us must be true, current and your own. Providers rely on them to reach you.
- Keep your login details private. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately at [support@bookingshub.lk] if you think someone else has access.
- Please keep one account per person. We may merge or close duplicates.
5. Signing in with Google or Facebook
You can create an account or sign in using your Google or Facebook account instead of setting a password. It is optional — email registration works just as well.
- Sign-in happens on Google's or Facebook's own screen. We never see, receive or store your Google or Facebook password.
- When you approve the sign-in, we receive only your basic profile: your name, your email address, your profile picture and the account ID that provider gives us. Nothing more.
- We do not post anything to your timeline, send messages on your behalf, read your posts or contacts, or access your friends list.
- We use that information for one purpose: to create and sign you into your BookingsHub account, and to send you booking notices.
- You can disconnect Google or Facebook at any time from your account settings or from your Google or Facebook security settings. If you disconnect, set a password first, or you may lose access to your bookings. Section 7 of the Privacy Policy explains how.
- If the email address on your social account is already registered here, we link the two so you do not end up with two accounts.
6. How a booking is made
You search, choose a listing, and send a booking request with your dates, seats, passengers or vehicle details. The request goes to the Provider.
A booking exists only once the Provider accepts it and we send you a booking confirmation with a reference number, by email and in your account. Until then, availability is not guaranteed, even if the listing showed the dates as open. If the Provider declines or does not respond within the time shown on the listing, the request lapses and we will help you look for an alternative.
Check every detail on your confirmation as soon as you receive it — dates, times, seat or room numbers, names, pick-up points. Tell us within 24 hours if anything is wrong.
7. Payments are made directly to the provider
BookingsHub does not handle money. We do not collect, hold, process, escrow or refund payments of any kind. There is no card payment on this site, no online checkout and no BookingsHub wallet. Every rupee you pay goes straight to the Provider you booked with.
7.1 How you pay. Each Provider decides how it wants to be paid and states this on its listing and on your booking confirmation. Common options are a bank transfer to the Provider's own bank account, payment on arrival or at check-in, or payment at the counter or terminal. The Provider's stated method is the one that applies to your booking.
7.2 Bank transfers. Where a Provider asks for a bank transfer, you transfer the money directly into the account named by that Provider. We display those account details only as the Provider has supplied them. Send your deposit slip or transfer receipt to the Provider using the contact details on your confirmation, and keep a copy for yourself.
7.3 Bus bookings. Seats are confirmed by the bus operator. Where an operator requires payment before travel, payment is made by bank transfer directly to that operator's account, exactly as shown on your booking confirmation. Other operators collect the fare at boarding. The choice belongs to the operator, not to us, and it is shown to you before you confirm. BookingsHub issues the seat confirmation only; it does not sell the ticket, collect the fare or refund it.
7.4 Verify before you transfer. Confirm the account details with the Provider directly, using the phone number on your confirmation, before sending any money.
7.5 We will never ask you to send money to a BookingsHub account. BookingsHub does not operate a collection account, and no member of our staff will ever ask you to transfer a booking payment, deposit or "release fee" to us, to a personal account, or to any account other than the one named on your confirmed booking. If anyone asks, it is not us. Stop, do not pay, and report it to [support@bookingshub.lk].
7.6 Payment disputes. Because we never hold your money, we cannot reverse a transfer, issue a refund or guarantee one. A dispute about payment is between you and the Provider. Tell us anyway — we will pass on your evidence, chase the Provider for a response, and remove Providers who mistreat guests.
8. Prices, taxes and charges
Prices are set and published by the Provider in Sri Lankan Rupees unless the listing says otherwise. Unless clearly stated, a displayed price may exclude government taxes, service charge, tourism levies, fuel, tolls, cleaning fees, security deposits, seasonal supplements and similar extras. The Provider must show these before you confirm; the amount payable is the one on your booking confirmation.
We do not charge guests a booking fee. If that ever changes, the fee will be shown clearly before you confirm.
9. Changes, cancellations, no-shows and refunds
Each listing carries the Provider's own policy on changes, cancellation deadlines, deposits, no-shows and refunds. That policy governs your booking, so read it before you confirm.
To cancel or change, use your BookingsHub account or contact the Provider directly, and do it in writing so there is a record. If a Provider cancels on you, we will tell you at once and help you find a replacement.
Any refund is calculated, approved and paid by the Provider, directly to you, by whatever means you agreed with them. BookingsHub does not issue refunds, cannot compel a Provider to pay one and is not liable for a refund a Provider fails to make.
10. Rules that apply to each category
In addition to everything above, the following applies to each type of booking.
- Hotels and boarding houses. Check-in and check-out times, occupancy limits, ID at check-in, house rules and visitor policy are set by the property. Room type, view and floor are subject to availability on arrival.
- Rent apartments and rent house. Longer lets usually need a separate rental or lease agreement, an advance and a refundable deposit, signed directly with the owner. BookingsHub introduces you; it is not the landlord, agent or guarantor, and it holds no deposit.
- Vehicle. You must hold a valid, current driving licence accepted in Sri Lanka and meet the owner's age and experience conditions. Fuel, tolls, fines, traffic offences, insurance excess and damage during your hire are your responsibility unless the owner agrees otherwise in writing.
- Bus and cruise. Carry your confirmation reference and NIC or passport. Arrive at the boarding point ahead of departure. Timetables can shift for traffic, weather, sea conditions or mechanical reasons; the operator's conditions of carriage govern delays, missed departures and baggage.
- Flights. Air tickets are sold and issued by the airline or its ticketing agent under their own fare rules, baggage rules and conditions of carriage. Names must match the passport exactly. Visas, transit permits and travel documents are your responsibility.
- Tour and events. Itineraries, start times, minimum group sizes, age and fitness requirements and weather cancellations are set by the organiser. Entry may be refused for late arrival or breach of the organiser's rules.
11. Your responsibilities
- Give correct names, contact numbers, traveller counts and dates.
- Bring the identification, licence or documents the Provider requires.
- Turn up on time, follow the Provider's rules and treat property, staff and other guests with respect.
- Pay the Provider on time, using the method stated on your confirmation.
- Pay for loss or damage you cause. That claim is between you and the Provider.
- Arrange your own travel and medical insurance. We do not provide any.
12. Terms for providers who list with us
If you publish a listing, you additionally agree that:
- You own the property, vehicle or service, or are authorised to offer it, and you hold every licence, registration, permit and insurance the law requires — including registration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority or the National Transport Commission where that applies to you.
- Your descriptions, photographs, prices, availability, cancellation policy and payment terms are accurate and kept up to date. Photographs must be of your own property or service.
- You will respond to booking requests within the time shown on your listing and honour every booking you accept, at the price accepted.
- The bank account details you publish are yours, correct and current. You are responsible for any loss caused by details you supply incorrectly, and you must notify us immediately if they change.
- You collect payment yourself, issue your own receipts and invoices, and handle your own refunds. We are not your agent, collector or trustee for any money.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, levies and statutory filings.
- You will handle guest information only for the booking, and will not sell it or use it for unrelated marketing.
- You indemnify BookingsHub against claims arising from your listing, your service or your breach of these terms.
We may edit or remove a listing, or suspend a Provider, where a listing is inaccurate, unlawful, unsafe, repeatedly cancelled or the subject of serious guest complaints.
13. Reviews and content you post
Reviews should describe your own genuine experience. Do not post anything false, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, or containing another person's private details. Do not post paid, traded or competitor reviews.
You keep ownership of what you post. By posting it you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, reproduce and adapt it on the Platform and in our marketing, with attribution to your display name. We may decline, edit or remove content that breaks these rules, and we may remove a review at your request where the law requires it.
14. Things you must not do
- Post a fake listing, impersonate someone, or advertise a property or vehicle you have no right to offer.
- Use the Platform for fraud, money laundering, prostitution, trafficking, or anything else unlawful under Sri Lankan law.
- Make speculative, abusive or automated bookings you do not intend to honour.
- Scrape, crawl, copy or republish listings, photographs or data from the Platform.
- Harvest contact details for marketing, or send unsolicited messages to guests or Providers.
- Interfere with the Platform's security, upload malware, or attempt to access accounts, servers or data that are not yours.
- Threaten, harass or discriminate against anyone using the Platform.
15. Our content and brand
The BookingsHub name, logo, design, text, code, database and page layouts belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may use the Platform for your own bookings or listings. You may not copy, resell, frame, reverse engineer or build a competing service from it without our written consent.
16. Availability of the site
We work to keep BookingsHub available and accurate, but we provide it "as is". We do not promise uninterrupted access, and we may suspend the Platform for maintenance, upgrades or security. Listings, prices and availability come from Providers and can be out of date or wrong; we do not verify or endorse them.
17. Our liability
Because we are an introducer and not the supplier, we are not responsible for:
- the condition, safety, cleanliness, quality or legality of any property, vehicle, vessel, aircraft, tour or event;
- a Provider cancelling, overbooking, failing to appear or refusing service;
- injury, illness, death, loss or damage to property occurring before, during or after a booking;
- any payment you make to a Provider or any third party, including money sent to an incorrect, changed or fraudulent bank account, and any refund a Provider does not pay;
- delays, missed connections, weather, strikes, closures or any other event beyond our reasonable control;
- a Provider's or another user's breach of these terms or of the law.
We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, opportunity, data or enjoyment. Where we are found liable despite the above, our total liability to you for all claims relating to a booking is limited to the fees we actually received from you in connection with that booking, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Sri Lankan law, including liability for our own fraud or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
18. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify BookingsHub, its directors, employees and agents against claims, losses, damages, penalties and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the Platform, your listing or booking, your breach of these terms, or your breach of any law or third-party right.
19. Suspension and closure of accounts
We may suspend or close an account, remove listings or withdraw access where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, where activity appears fraudulent or unsafe, or where the law requires it. Where it is fair and practical we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. You may close your account at any time — see section 8 of the Privacy Policy below. Confirmed bookings still stand, and obligations you already owe a Provider survive closure.
20. Complaints and disputes
Raise a problem with the Provider first — most issues are settled fastest that way. If that does not work, write to [support@bookingshub.lk] with your booking reference and any evidence. We aim to acknowledge within 2 working days and to respond substantively within 14 working days. We will mediate in good faith, but we cannot decide a dispute between you and a Provider or order payment between you.
21. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes or the law requires. The effective date at the top always shows the current version, and we will notify registered users of significant changes by email or an on-site notice. Continuing to use BookingsHub after a change means you accept the updated terms. Bookings already confirmed are governed by the terms in force when they were confirmed.
22. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Colombo have exclusive jurisdiction. If any clause is held invalid, the rest continues in force.
Privacy Policy
Effective 1 September 2026
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we pass it to and how you can get it removed. It forms part of the Terms and Conditions above.
1. Who is responsible for your information
[Registered company name], trading as BookingsHub, [registered address, Sri Lanka], is the controller of the personal data described here. We handle it in line with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 of Sri Lanka. For anything in this policy, write to [privacy@bookingshub.lk].
2. Information we collect
What you give us
- Account details: name, email address, phone number, password (stored only as a one-way hash), profile photo, preferred language.
- Booking details: travel or stay dates, destinations, room or seat preferences, number of guests or passengers, pick-up points, special requests, and identification such as NIC or passport number where a Provider is legally required to record it.
- Provider details, if you list with us: business name, address, licence or registration numbers, contact person, photographs, and the bank account details you choose to publish for guests to pay into.
- What you write: messages to Providers or support, reviews, ratings, and any transfer receipt or document you upload.
What we receive from Google or Facebook
If you choose to sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive only your name, email address, profile picture and the unique account ID from that service. We do not receive your password. We do not receive or request your friends list, contacts, posts, messages, photos or ad data, and we never post anything as you. If you would rather not share even this, register with an email address instead.
What we collect automatically
- IP address, approximate location derived from it, device type, operating system, browser and language.
- Pages viewed, searches run, listings opened, and the date and time of each visit.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see section 6.
What we receive from others
Providers tell us whether they accepted your request, and may report a no-show, damage or a payment issue. We do not receive card or bank credentials from anyone.
3. Why we use it
- To create your account and sign you in, including through Google or Facebook — to perform our contract with you, and with your consent for social sign-in.
- To send your booking request to the Provider and return their answer to you — to perform our contract with you.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders, changes and cancellation notices — to perform our contract with you.
- To answer support requests and mediate complaints — to perform our contract, and for our legitimate interest in running the service.
- To detect fraud, fake listings and misuse, and keep the Platform safe — for our legitimate interest and to meet legal obligations.
- To understand which pages and categories are used, so we can improve them — for our legitimate interest, and with your consent for analytics cookies.
- To send offers and newsletters — with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link.
- To meet tax, accounting, tourism and law-enforcement obligations — because the law requires it.
4. Who we share it with
- The Provider you book with. To complete a reservation they receive your name, contact number, email, dates, guest or passenger count and any special request. They need it to serve you, and they must use it only for your booking.
- Service suppliers who work for us — hosting, email and SMS delivery, error monitoring and analytics — under contracts that limit them to our instructions.
- Authorities, where a valid legal request, court order or statutory duty requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
- A buyer, if the business is sold or merged, with notice to you and the same protections carried over.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Financial information
Because BookingsHub does not process payments, we do not ask for or store your card number, CVV, bank login or account credentials. There is no payment gateway on this site. Money moves directly between you and the Provider, and the only financial information we may hold is a Provider's published account details and any receipt a guest chooses to upload as proof of a transfer.
6. Cookies
- Essential — keep you signed in, remember your booking basket, protect forms against abuse. The site does not work without them.
- Preference — remember your language, currency and recent searches.
- Analytics — count visits and show us which pages are used, in aggregate.
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies in the banner shown on your first visit, change your mind later from the cookie settings link in the footer, and clear or block cookies in your browser at any time.
7. Managing or removing your Google and Facebook sign-in
You are in control of the connection at all times:
- In BookingsHub: Account settings, then Linked accounts, then Disconnect. Set a password first so you can still sign in.
- In Google: visit your Google Account, then Security, then "Your connections to third-party apps and services", select BookingsHub and remove access.
- In Facebook: Settings and privacy, then Settings, then "Apps and websites", select BookingsHub and remove it.
Removing access stops any future sharing between that service and BookingsHub. It does not by itself delete the BookingsHub account already created — use the section below for that.
8. Deleting your account and your data
How to have your data deleted. Either sign in and choose Account settings, then "Delete my account", or email [privacy@bookingshub.lk] from your registered address with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". Include the name on the account and, if you signed up through Google or Facebook, say which one.
We verify the request, then delete or irreversibly anonymise your profile, contact details, saved searches, messages and social sign-in identifiers within 30 days, and confirm by email when it is done.
Two limits, so there are no surprises: bookings still upcoming must be cancelled with the Provider first, and we keep the minimum booking and transaction records that tax, accounting and consumer-protection law require us to retain, locked away from ordinary use. Reviews are anonymised rather than removed, so the rating history stays honest.
9. How long we keep it
- Account data — while your account is open, and up to 12 months after closure in case of a dispute.
- Booking records — 6 years from the booking date, for tax and legal purposes.
- Support messages — 24 months.
- Server and security logs — 12 months.
- Marketing consent records — until you withdraw consent, plus 12 months as evidence of the withdrawal.
10. How we protect it
The site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and salted, never stored in readable form. Access to personal data is restricted to staff who need it, protected by individual accounts and multi-factor authentication, and logged. We back data up, patch our systems and review access regularly. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at once if something looks wrong with your account. If a breach is likely to affect your rights, we will notify you and the Data Protection Authority as the law requires.
11. Your rights
Under the Personal Data Protection Act you may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct anything inaccurate, delete data we no longer need, restrict or object to a particular use, withdraw a consent you gave, or provide your data in a portable form. Write to [privacy@bookingshub.lk] and we will respond within 21 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka.
12. Children
BookingsHub is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Children may of course travel or stay as part of a booking made by an adult, who is responsible for their details. If you believe a child has registered, tell us and we will remove the account.
13. Storage outside Sri Lanka
Some of our suppliers — hosting, email delivery and analytics — store data on servers outside Sri Lanka. Where that happens we use providers that offer a comparable standard of protection and bind them by contract to protect your data and use it only for us.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as our service or the law changes, and the effective date above will show the current version. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will notify registered users by email before it takes effect.
